چکیده
Background Skin barrier dysfunction is a key component of the pathogenesis atopic dermatitis (AD). Recent research on optimization to prevent AD has shown mixed results. The aim this study was assess relationship between emollient bathing at 2 months and trajectory in first years life large unselected observational birth cohort study. Methods Babies After SCOPE: Evaluating Longitudinal Impact Using Neurological Nutritional Endpoints Birth Cohort enrolled 2183 infants. Variables extracted from database related early skincare, skin function, parental history atopy, outcomes. Statistical analysis performed adjust for potential confounding variables. Results One thousand five hundred children had data status available 6, 12, 24 months. Prevalence 18.6% 6 months, 15.2% 12 16.5% Adjusted variables, odds any point were higher among infants who baths (OR (95% CI): 2.41 (1.56 3.72), p < .001). Following multivariable analysis, both frequent application compared with neither CI) 1.74 (1.18–2.58), = .038), 2.59 (1.69–3.94), .001), 1.87 (1.21–2.90), .009). DESIGN Mothers were recruited to the Avon longitudinal study of parents and children (ALSPAC) from the eighth week of pregnancy. Before parturition, both parents were asked, separately, to report ...
متن کاملEmollient enhancement of the skin barrier from birth offers effective atopic dermatitis prevention
BACKGROUND Atopic dermatitis (atopic eczema) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that has reached epidemic proportions in children worldwide and is increasing in prevalence. Because of the significant socioeconomic effect of atopic dermatitis and its effect on the quality of life of children and families, there have been decades of research focused on disease prevention, with limited success...
متن کاملLow neonatal Toll-like receptor 4-mediated interleukin-10 production is associated with subsequent atopic dermatitis.
BACKGROUND Atopic dermatitis (AD) and respiratory syncytial virus lower respiratory tract infection (RSV LRTI) are common diseases during early life. Impaired Th1-cell polarizing Toll-like receptor (TLR) responses play an important role in the pathogenesis of both diseases. Neonatal TLR-mediated production of Th1-type cytokines is decreased at birth, but rapidly increases during the first month...
